Balfolk classes
Balfolk Classes
We currently teach Balfolk at the KU Leuven sports center. We offer two types of classes:
Walk-in Balfolk Classes: Open to everyone—whether you're brand new or have years of experience. Each week, we introduce a new dance, including both well-known and lesser-known folk dances from across Europe. Some are partner dances, while others are danced in circles or chains as a group. Expect a mix of popular styles and hidden gems from Scandinavia, the Balkans, the Mediterranean, and beyond. At the end of the semester, we celebrate with our own dance party!
Balfolk Series: A semester-long course focusing on some of the most common partner dances at balfolk events. This semester, we’re diving into polka, polska, and waltz (in 3, 5 & 8 beats). These classes build progressively, helping you develop technique and confidence over time.
More information about the classes, including timing and location, can be found trough the link below.
How to Attend?
Walk-in Balfolk Classes: No semester registration required! You can join at any time during the semester. Just bring comfortable, clean shoes and a water bottle. These classes are free with a KU Leuven sports card or a day pass (€5, available at the vending machine inside the building).
Balfolk Series: Requires semester registration and a KU Leuven sports card. The cost is KU Leuven sports card + €40.
